More than 12,000 cormorant reports were in by the night of the webinar. The recording shows what they turn into: the evidence a licence application asks for, drawn round your own water.
Natural England set out what they look for in an application. The Angling Trust covered habitat and non-lethal methods, and Peterborough & District Angling Association showed an area licence working across a catchment.
- HydroscapeWe report a sighting live, then draw round a real venue and build its evidence pack.
- Natural EnglandDr Rodney Calvert, Principal Adviser, Wildlife Management, on how licencing works and what an application needs.
- The Angling TrustRichard Bamforth, Fishery Management Adviser, on habitat and non-lethal methods, and Mark Owen, Head of Fisheries, on the European picture.
- Peterborough & District Angling AssociationThe association's Head of Fisheries, on running an area licence across a catchment.

Our part of the evening was a live demonstration, so it's in the recording rather than on slides.
Start the evidence this winter
Report every cormorant you see, and log the empty days too, because where they aren't matters as much as where they are. Log your non-lethal measures as you go: an application needs a record of them covering at least a month.
From Natural England
When your evidence is ready, the application goes to Natural England. Their guidance covers the A06 and A07 licences for cormorants, goosanders, mergansers and herons, and what you need to send, including your log of non-lethal measures.
From the Angling Trust
Richard Bamforth and Jake Davoile, the Trust's Fishery Management Advisers, give advice on habitat, non-lethal methods and licence applications. Richard covers the north of England and Jake the south.
